You have been sent by your king to a distant province on the frontier. Your job sounded simple in the capital: build some buildings and prove that you’re the best governor around. He even gave you permission to speak with his advisers to help get the resources you need. Maybe you should have paid more attention to what he told you about the enemies across the border…
Kingsburg allows 2 to 5 intrepid governors the opportunity to prove that they can oversee their province better than the others. But you must also keep an eye on your defenses or you will lose your hard-earned accomplishments. Over 5 years, you will direct the affairs of your province through four seasons.
Spring, summer, and autumn are your productive seasons. You begin each of these seasons by rolling your dice. Your dice can be used to influence the king’s advisers. But each adviser can only act once each season! So, if another player is the first to reach the adviser you need, then you are out of luck!
Every adviser can supply you with valuable goods, influence, or soldiers to help defend your territory. More powerful advisers can give you greater rewards, but they are much harder to influence.
You can use your goods to build important buildings in your province. Each building grants you a special ability, as long as you can defend it!
Most buildings also grant you victory points. You can get more points by earning rewards from the king, influencing certain advisers, or defeating the enemies in battle.
Victory points are your key to winning the game!
Each season also has an event you can take advantage of. You might get help from the king, such as a valuable and powerful envoy to assist you.
Eventually, the chill wind of winter blows, and the time for building has passed. Now you must defend your holdings!
Every year, an army full of terrifying foes invades the kingdom. Are your soldiers enough to hold them at bay? If not, they will pillage your province. If you do, glory and rewards are yours!
After 5 full years, the player with the most victory points is the winner, awarded with glory and wealth uncountable by the grateful king!
