The railroads have been built and the buffalo hunted almost to extinction. Now the vast North American prairie lays open, waiting for the plow. Do you have what it takes to start from scratch in this harsh new land?
Starting with borrowed cash and a simple homestead on a single plot of land, you must build a farming operation that can sustain your family for generations. On each plot of land you add, you choose one of eight crop or livestock options. Pay off the mortgage anytime you like, but keep an eye on the mounting interest! To win, simply have the most cash available for retirement after your final harvest.
Players buy, plant, and harvest simultaneously so there's very little downtime in this action-packed game. The game consists of twenty turns, with each turn representing one season. On each turn, events ranging from tornadoes, droughts, or oil strikes to simple little county fair prizes may affect all, some, or none of the players. Market prices and yields also change each turn, making this a game of managing risk and allowing for a degree of uncertainty. Players compete to buy land and are free to interact in any way they wish by renting, selling, or loaning cash, land, livestock, or equipment. The number of players is not critical to the game mechanics, so the game may be played solitaire.
